When visiting Savannah during the winter months, we suggest to our guests fun indoor activities the city has to offer. Often, when couples come to stay at our historic district inn, the lady is excited to shop while the man may not look forward to “browsing all those cute little boutiques!”

Here is a compromise: how about some food and wine tastings? Classy and fun, we think this is a great way for couples to spend an afternoon around Savannah.

Aged Balsamic Vinegar and Extra-Virgin Olive Oil Tasting

A half mile from our inn on Liberty Street is Low Country Gourmet Foods. Every day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. they offer tastings of over 20 different aged balsamic vinegars and 16 different extra-virgin olive oils. The knowledgeable staff can suggest how to use aged balsamic vinegars and extra-virgin olive oils to create great, healthy meals.

Wine Tasting at the Savannah Wine Cellar

One of the most popular places to buy wine, the Savannah Wine Cellar, holds hand poured wine tastings every Saturday afternoon anytime between the hours of 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. You’ll find the staff talking about and hand-pouring a sampling of delicious wines. Come enjoy and meet others who appreciate good wine.

Red, white, sweet or dry, sparkling or still, it’s always a tempting mix of liquid love! Tastings are $10 per person, which includes hors d’oeuvres platters for your enjoyment. The Savannah Wine Cellar, located at the Twelve Oaks Shopping Center, is less than a 15 minute drive from our luxury bed and breakfast. Couples: if one of you wants to shop, the other can stay for wine tasting and pick out some bottles to bring home while the other browses about in the mall.

This is just a small example of the fun you can have during a winter trip to Savannah. With all of the history, art and delicious foodthe city offers, we hope to see you at the B&B soon!
