Savannah kicks off the end-of-the-year holidays every year with the magnificent Savannah Boat Parade of Lights. The event is put on by the Savannah Harbor Association and features light-bedecked boats cruising along the Savannah Riverfront. The Savannah Boat Parade of Lights also includes musical entertainment, fireworks, a tree lighting ceremony, and even a canon firing!

A real Savannah-style Christmas parade, in other words.

5pm to 7:30pm – Santa’s Workshop Midnight Sun Pavilion
5pm to 10pm – Holiday Concessions
6pm – Savannah Pipes and Drums
6:15pm – Proclamation Read by General Oglethorpe
6:20pm – Tree Lighting Ceremony
6:30pm to 9pm – Musical Entertainment
7:15pm – Cannon Fire to Start the Parade
9pm – Fireworks

There are a number of ways to experience the Savannah Boat Parade of Lights. River Street is always a good time with happy crowds, caroling, and the shops and eateries getting into festivities.

The Westin also gets into the spirit across the river on Hutchinson Island. Their annual oyster roast, Christmas Market, and Ice Bar always attract a great crowd. Both Hutchinson Island and River Street offer excellent vantage points from which to enjoy the Boat Parade of Lights.
