Meet the Innkeepers

Eric & Melissa Calhoun, along with their son Joshua and daughter-in-law Miss Emmie love living in Savannah. They enjoy meeting guests from all over the world and pride themselves in making everyone feel at home.

Melissa has been an RN for 17 years with a genuine compassion for taking care of people. Eric is a machinist and works in the power generation industry.

The family is from the Southeast and love extending their true southern hospitality to their guests, and look forward to welcoming you in person.

History of the Inn

Thomas H. McMillan came to Savannah in December 1878 from North Carolina to open a branch of the McMillan Copper Works where turpentine stills were made. The McMillan Inn was built in 1888. Mr. McMillan’s plant occupied an entire block on Liberty and Price streets and he estimated that his company made 3/4ths of all stills used in the South. Mr. McMillan also served as the chairman of the Savannah Park and Tree Commission responsible for planting the azaleas in Forsyth Park. He died at the age of 87 and is buried at Bonaventure Cemetery. McMillan Inn was restored around 1995 when it opened as a Bed and Breakfast Inn.
