Savannah St. Patrick's Day

Erin Go Bragh! Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah, GA and witness one of the biggest St. Patrick’s Day parades in the country: the Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade!

Savannah was a major hub for Irish immigration in the 19th-century and has retained a significant Irish population. In fact, roughly 1 in 11 Chatham County residents can claim Irish ancestry. Consequently, St. Patrick’s Day is one of Savannah, GA’s biggest holidays.

The celebrations include a calendar full of events, including many that occur well before the holiday on March 17th. There’s an opening ceremony, the Greening of Forsyth Park’s Fountain, festive parties, somber memorials, and, of course, Savannah’s famous St. Paddy’s Day parade.

The Main Event: Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade, held the day of the holiday, is the highlight of the celebrations. The parade starts off from the corner of Gwinnett and Abercorn at 10:15am, though affected streets are shut down much earlier in the day.
