River Street Seafood Fest 2018Summer is fast approaching and with it comes River Street Seafood Fest 2018! The annual festival is back from a year’s hiatus and ready to rock your socks off with fresh seafood, live music, arts and crafts, and all on Savannah’s famous River Street! June 1st through the 3rd, 2018.

Things are heating up in Savannah as summer approaches. May used to be River Street Seafood Fest month but, after the festival’s 2017 break, it was decided to schedule it for June. Little else about the festival has changed – it’s still one of Savannah’s most anticipated events! (more…)

42nd Annual Savannah Scottish GamesCome out to Savannah’s Bethesda Academy Campus for the 42nd annual Savannah Scottish Games. Pipe bands, dancing, competitions, shopping, food, and fun! May 5th, 2018.

The annual Savannah Scottish Games have been a tradition here since 1976. This family-friendly celebration of Scottish culture is always great fun for those of Scottish heritage – and those who wish they were!

The two biggest attractions to this annual event have to be the live entertainment and competitions.

It wouldn’t be the Savannah Scottish Games without the games and this event has plenty! Kilt-clad athletes will compete in the Scottish Hammer Throw, the Open Stone Put, Sheaf Toss, Caber Toss, and much more. (more…)

A-Town Get Down Art and Music Festival 2018Love music and art and planning on being in Savannah on April 21st, 2018? If so, then you do not want to miss the A-Town Get Down Art and Music Festival! This popular celebration of art and music includes a stellar lineup of performers, including headliner Chuck Leavell!

The A-Town Get Down Festival is held each year in memory of Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) student, Alex “A-Town” Townsend. Alex Townsend was a highly creative graphic design student at SCAD when he passed away. Though he only reached the age of 21, the unbridled energy of his soaring spirit touched many.

The festival is an interactive art and music event designed to inspire and provide access to the arts to under-served communities. The event draws professional, local, and regional artists as well as big crowds of eager fans. The event includes live art installations, large-scale performances, and interactive workshops. (more…)

Here Comes the 29th Annual Savannah Music Festival!

Savannah Music Festival 2018The 2018 Savannah Music Festival will see more than 100 live performances in 17 days – and all in downtown Savannah. March 29th through April 14th, 2018!

The annual Savannah Music Festival is Georgia’s largest musical arts event, with concerts, dance parties, recitals, and more. The multi-genre celebration attracts renowned musicians from around the world. While the festival’s initial focus was jazz and classical, pop, folk, and other genres have been added over the years. Last year saw the introduction of film and dance productions to the mix.

Savannah Music Festival 2018 has added some new venues as well as additional programs. The biggest, new addition is the 11 hour finale on April 14th at the Trustees’ Garden. This all-day concert runs from noon to 11pm and includes headliners Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and Gillian Welch. (more…)

Savannah Stopover was started with musicians on their way to SXSW in mind. The festival provides a welcome “stopover” for these artists to stay and play during their journey to Austin.

The festival is also a well-known place for spotting new and breaking talent. Numerous up-and-comers like Grimes, of Montreal, The War On Drugs, Future Islands, and many others played here before making it big. Which unknown artists on this year’s roster will be headlining shows next year? (more…)

Tour Georgia’s Oldest, Tallest Lighthouse: Tybee Island Lighthouse

Tybee Island LighthouseCome to Savannah and discover Georgia’s oldest and tallest lighthouse, one of only seven surviving colonial-era lighthouses in the country. Tybee Island Lighthouse has guarded the mouth of the Savannah River in one form or another since 1736.

Tybee Island Lighthouse has a storied history, to say the least. It made its first appearance when Georgia was still just a colony, not a state. This first incarnation was just a 90-foot tall day marker constructed of wood and brick- no light. A stark contrast to the 145-foot tall, black and white tower we know today. (more…)
