Summer is just around the corner and with it comes the 2025 Savannah Juneteenth Fine Arts Festival a vibrant celebration of freedom, culture, and community. This free, family-friendly event honors the legacy of Juneteenth on Saturday, June 21, at Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia.
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates June 19, 1865. On this date, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, TX to announce the end of slavery – more than two full years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Today, Juneteenth is a federal holiday. It is a time for reflection, education, and celebration of African American resilience, creativity, and culture.
In Savannah, we celebrate Juneteenth with a series of events. These include a Scholarship Gala, the Miss Savannah Juneteenth Pageant, a party with fireworks, and the Fine Arts Festival. Best of all, McMillan Inn’s convenient location in Savannah’s downtown historic district has you within minutes of all Juneteenth events.
