The Tybee Island Tour of Homes – Saturday, May 2, 2015 – is one of the region’s most popular home tours, with everything from grand coastal mansions to funky island cottages – a variety that draws guests back to the tour time and again!
The 18th annual Tybee Island Tour of Homes is a chance for you to explore a diverse collection of fascinating contemporary and historic Tybee Island residences. Cozy bungalows, classic cottages, expansive beach houses; the tour will present attendees with a wide range of architectural styles and interior designs from across the island and time. One home on the tour dates all of the way back to 1908!
The wide range of styles and the seemingly endless creativity of Tybee Island’s homeowners is the true attraction of the Tybee Island Tour of Homes – and what keeps people coming back to the tour year after year. Past tours have featured some fascinating residences, such as surprisingly lush and innovative manufactured homes, a “Treehouse” made to feel as if it is located in a dense forest, and even a couple of beautiful island cottages – one created out of a disused morgue, the other a latrine!
The up-close, inside-the-front-door view provided by the Tybee Island Tour of Homes imparts not just a unique diversion but also a wealth of innovative ideas for your own home. For those returning to the tour, this year’s showcase features ten homes that have never been on the tour before.
Guests of the 2015 Tybee Island Tour of Homes may start the tour at the home of their choice, where they can pick up a map of the rest of the tour. Tickets may be purchased online and picked up at the Tybee Island Maritime Academy at 714 Lovell Avenue on the day of the tour. Lunch is included in the price of the ticket and will be served from 11am to 2pm at St. Michael’s Gym, also located at 714 Lovell Ave.
Proceeds from this year’s Tybee Island Tour of Homes go towards the Tybee Island Maritime Academy and The Fresh Air Home.
