Savannah VOICE Festival 2022 is just weeks away and set to feature live, in person opera, musical theater, and popular song performances. August 7th through the 21st at a variety of venues around Savannah.
2022 sees the 10th anniversary of the Savannah VOICE Festival. The event, brainchild of opera legend Sherrill Milnes and soprano Maria Zouves, is a two-week long celebration of vocal excellence. Attractions include concerts, recitals, staged operas, special dinner events, masterclasses, and more.
This year’s festival, entitled “Voices from Beyond,” focuses on named productions with an impressive lineup of the highest caliber of artists. Names like Elizabeth Baldwin, Winner of the ATC’s Milnes VOICE opera Award, and 2022’s Milnes VOICE award winner, Frederica von Stade.
Scheduled performance highlights include a double bill of commissioned Savannah operas, two ghost operas by Michael Ching, a tribute to the Lerner & Loewe Broadway classic Brigadoon, and Gounod’s Faust. Free masterclasses are also on the schedule, fulfilling the festival’s mission of educational outreach.
Festival performances will be staged at a variety of venues around Savannah. These include the Jewish Educational Alliance, Morris Center, Davenport House, Asbury Memorial Church, Telfair Academy, and the First Baptist Church.
Savannah VOICE Festival 2022 is set to be presented live and in-person with COVID prevention protocols in place to protect both artists and audience members.
