Grab some popcorn and take your seats: it’s SCAD Savannah Film Festival time once again! 2022 marks the festival’s 25th anniversary, so you can expect plenty of extra surprises, special guests, and much more! October 22nd through the 29th, 2022.
The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Savannah Film Festival is the largest university-run film festival in the world. The annual event celebrates established cinema professionals and emerging students alike with eight-days of screenings. Films shown at the festival include Oscar-buzzworthy features, shorts, documentaries, and animated works from around the world.
The festival is also known for the attendance of celebrated movie making professionals. Famous directors, writers, producers, and even A-list actors have been a part of nearly every festival. Past events have featured such luminaries as Rachel Brosnahan, Millie Bobby Brown, Billy Crystal, Ethan Hawke, Jennifer Hudson, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Beyond all the great films and famous people, the festival is also known for its workshops, lectures, panels, and receptions. These events are entertaining, informative, and often a good way to meet award-winning filmmakers and other industry insiders.
SCAD Savannah Film Festival draws more than 63,000 people every year and is an important stop on the awards circuit.
SCAD Savannah Film Festival 2022
The 25th annual SCAD Savannah Film Festival is scheduled for October 22nd through the 29th, 2022. Details for this year’s festival are still being developed but you can be sure it will be a stand-out, silver anniversary year with lots of special surprises.
Past year’s screenings have taken place at the 1946 Trustees Theater and the 1926 Lucas Theatre for the Arts. Both of these beautiful, historic theaters are downtown and just five minutes from the door of our Savannah bed and breakfast, McMillan Inn. In fact, the SCAD Campus is literally just a few minute’s walk from the Inn.
Savannah Film Festival passes allow you to come and go as you please, attend the events you want and skip others. Not interested in enough of this year’s films or events to justify buying a pass? Not a problem. Tickets for individual screenings and events are also available.
